EironBreaker
I didn't want to hijack the cutting topic. What size do you typically use for wire weed guards? I think I bought a roll of 150 lb 7 strand last time and am about out so time to buy another roll. I'm thinking it is a little heavy, definitely hard to cut. I use a super sharp snips but I'll get a blister quick if I have to cut many at a time. At work we have a monster paper cutter so I might try that instead to make a bunch at once. I'm thinking of trying the 90 lb size, 0.024 diameter. Is that what most use? I'm putting them in 1/4 oz standup heads mostly or weedless tube jigs. It all depends on the resistance you desire and the hook size These cut 150 clean and easily w/o spreading the ends of the 7 strand wire https://agsstainless.com/shoppingcart/Cable-Cutters-for-cable-rail-installation?gclid=CJLts6S

JSC
Good thread and I have about .02 cents worth to add. I purchased the "Craftsman Cutter" in the early 80's Have made many thousands of cuts using coated/uncoated braided & solid stainless .. Braid Uncoated up to 135# test .. Stainless 40 thousandths ... many thousands of leader rigs, weed guards, spinner shafts & etc. Still going strong. I had a return spring that wore out some where along the line and I have not checked Sears to see what they have in this type cutter at the present. I would give it 10 plus star out of 5. smalljaw
Thanks for the information, I think I'll go with the 90 lb. That is what I use, that makes a good size weed guard that holds up to rocks and stuff really well. I use .013 single wire for making small weed guards to tie on small octopus hooks for wacky rigging.
