Bois d'Arc
I am not sure what a sheet of stencil material is, but ironically a milk jug is 25c around here. Still a good idea, and nice stencils I buy the milk to drink and have the jugs left over.... my kids save them for me too. Never bought a milk jug alone....why would I? .25/4 = .06 ??? Liking the idea of using foam sheets like joetheplumber suggested
Bois d'Arc
Here are a few lures done with home made stencils: Some of the plastic molded detail around the head & gills made it tough to avoid overspray so I used stencils made from milk jugs. I think they painted out OK....
aulrich
I don't buy the bottle empty, it's the 25c is what I get for the bottle at the recycling center, around here we pay a deposit on all drink containers we get it back when we take the bottles in to be recycled. But windshield washer fluid we don't, they seem to be the same plastic but a bit thicker. Mind you I get full price on bottles my dog has chewed up so maybe I can cut the flats out and still get my deposit back

SLT785
I think this is what Joetheplumber is talking about. http://www.michaels.com/creatology-value-pack-foam-sheets/M10287634.html?dwvar_M10287634_color=Brights#q=foam+sheets&start=

I had no idea milk jugs were valuable recycle items. No place around here to return them. I'm guessing the waste pickup companies in my area seperate items and recycle what they can. Still haven't used JTP's foam sheet method but it looks like a great idea.
KevinHanses
I use PETG 0.020" 12x12 sheets. Works great. Trace what i want with a fine tip marker, and either dremel it out, or burn it out. This was my very first stencil. Had to make it funny! aulrich
That is cool enough to copy and if you start a bait company you can call it flatliner lures Edited March 13, 2015 by aulrich
aulrich
I know a vacuum table is the normal method for making stencils, but I ran into this goofing around on youtube kydex would be too heavy for the stencil plastic, but I think the press they use could be a replacement for a vacuum table. Has anyone tried this?
