The bait was in a plastic box in my truck in the sun, A blister about as big around as a pencil eraser formed on the forward side. No other baits were effected. Just don't understand it?? the-bass-catcher Posted July 28, 2004 Report Share Posted July 28, 2004 I would guess that somehow moisture has gotten in the wood, and the heat just made it surface...maybe the moisture was already in the wood, maybe it has a leak in the finish, etc. That is just my guess, which isn't much. Skeeter Posted July 31, 2004 Report Share Posted July 31, 2004 More than likely your white undercoat did not stick to the wood on that part of the bait. I had the same thing happen when I used sanding sealer for the wood and my latex white undercoat. I wouldn't rule out the moisture thing either. But my guess is that your undercoat didn't stick. But my guess is that your undercoat didn't stick.Skeeter The undercoat was not sprayed on the wood. It's a balsa bait and is sealed with Devcon, then sanded and sprayed with white undercoat. The funny thing is, that's it's perfectly round. Give Devcon credit, it didnot bust. The bait is very useable, just not saleable. the-bass-catcher Posted August 4, 2004 Report Share Posted August 4, 2004 Just Curious, but I seal my lures with devcon, then spray acrylic white krylon over it, and sometimes the topcoat and the white chips away...what type of white primer or paint do ya'll use over the devcon? Moisture in the Airbrush or compressor or maybe even a little solvent from when you cleaned your brush. Just a thought since you said it was perfectly round.
