oliviatabor
Just wondering the cheapest place to buy glitter and dye for soft plastics. Also, what are you favorite colors for Senkos? Thanks! -Olivia
Bassinfool
Ispikeit.com is about the cheapest I've found and it's all very high quality. Senko colors for me are simple. Watermelons, green pumpkins, black. That's about as varied as I get. I did make some baby bass laminates last summer that caught a mess of fish but that was more out of boredom that those were created.
alsworms
Just be careful buying glitter from craft stores. Most of them are not polyester coated and will easily burn in hot plastic. Agree with Bassinfool on the senkos........any variation of green with red flake works best for me.
mark poulson
Olivia, If you're just getting started, don't go so cheap that you get lousy results, and become discouraged. Using better materials increases your odds of success in lure making. I think green works because it is the most natural color, and red is red shallow, and grey deep, so it affords both color attraction shallow, and contrast deep. I had problems with my red flake bleeding in my watermelon worms, and turning them more orange. I switched to Bait Junky's color and glitter, and no more problems. http://www.shopbaitjunkys.com/ I'm not sponsored by or affiliated with him. I just know his stuff works. oliviatabor
Thanks guys - you are lots of help. Have any of you ever bought glitter from http://do-itmolds.com ? It is pretty and cheap and shipping is way cheaper than other places! I just want to make sure it won't bleed. Thx a lot! Olivia
Bassinfool
I've only used their holo flake but it does well.
edgecrusher
I had problems with my red flake bleeding in my watermelon worms, and turning them more orange. I have that problem too, just about to use Baitjunkys to avoid it! When using red I now am forced to cook up what I can use without reheating, ie 3 shots maximum. I think you misread that, I had another brand that bled, not baitjunkys - about to use his glitter
Frank
Another option is Mf they have a great supply of good glitter and there shipping has at least for me been actual cost. Not one that is computed from a site. I believe Mf and doit have the same supplier just going by the color charts. For colors and glitter you really can't beat Spikeit. Good prices and strong toners. They cut there own glitter and are the source for many who resell. Shipping can be a bit much just because for us on the west coast it will be coast to coast ups ground and that is SLOW. Bassinfool
Hell, it's $12 and some change to ship it to me from spike it and its less than a 5 hour drive from my house!
edgecrusher
Just be glad you are in the US, my last box from Spike it was $80 freight! Crazy, you get to the point where you just tell them to jam random product in to make the most of the shipping. Shame you can't get the really good stuff (the solvent soft plastic paint and mend it (or their version) due to shipping restrictions. This is the only container that is airline approved. Call them and ask for Bruce. He was the one that gave me this info.

edgecrusher
I've had no problem bringing it into Canada. Could be an issue with transporting by air? Which would make sense if you are able to get it but not us.
