steelmania
Hi, I am new to this, but I like it. When I look at the dye colors , it says non-bleed or nothing. Can anybody tell me what non-bleed and regular mean? Thanks for any help. It is greatly appreciated! ......Lou
edgecrusher
Bleed means the colour runs, if laminating the bleeding colour can run into the other, same issue if they are stored together.I use a lot a bleeding colours simply because I find I prefer that shade.
Jig Man
Bleed means I make a blue/yellow bait and in a week or so I have a green one. Nonbleed means I make a blue/yellow bait and in a long time I have a blue/yellow bait.
steelmania
Thanks jigman and crusher, I am new to this and I am interested in doing things right. I am starting out with salmon egg molds as I do alot of steelhead and salmon fishing. I want to get the right colors but the bleed was a little confusing. Now I understand it. A transparent orange/amber color is needed. I am looking at M-F colors. Thanks...........Lou
Bassinfool
Dyes make great baits as long as you don't put them with baits of a different color or laminate your baits with any other color than black or it will bleed through and change it. Don't be scared away from bleeders, they're great! You just have to be mindful of how you utilize them and realize they do have limitations.

Driftwood
I use dye for most baits but if I don't want my baits to bleed, I use a past coloring. Past also helps get a more consistent color.

mark poulson
Does whether or not a dye will bleed have to do with the size of the pigment particles, or something else?
