PaBasser
Try your local car shop, for used tire weights. Or your local junk yard, remodelers or plumbers. Remodelers remove old lead pipes, and so do plumbers. If there is any remodeling in hospitals near you ask for the lead shields from x-rays. jigmaster
If you get desperate, check E-bay. There is a guy there that sells pure ingots, for roughly a buck a pound, incl. shipping. It is good lead......I have bought from him before. Probably could get it cheaper if you can find it, but any port in a storm........ Jig Man
I was able to get lead containers for radio active medicine through a hospital contact for free as well as a 4X8 sheet of drywall covered with lead.

WidowMaker
I have a buddy who is in the junk business and he is my primary source for lead. I have my own seperate pile of junk down at his place. I will stop along the side of the road and pick up scrap metal and take it to my pile and he will keep track of what i bring him. Then he trades me an equal valued amount of lead for what i brought to him. This works out well for both of us. Some of the best lead ive come across is stained glass window framing from a church. It is super soft and shines bright enough to knock your eyes out. You can laquer coat it and it looks like it is chrome plated.
