Presto Pots

Recommended Posts

I have a couple of questions in regards to presto ports. I'm getting to the point I am finding my current microwave method is slowing me down and want to move up to presto pots. I know some guys use mixer's and some don't. I had been looking at the Bear's presto pot with mixer. Do yall turn the mixer off when you draw up your platic into the injector? I notcied that the Bear's has a spout on the bottom, what is that for? Never used presto pots before, always just used microwave and pyrex. I've read several posts about the shooting star system's  but I don't know if I need to go that route yet. But if I do can you use just one pot for single colors? With reading the other post's in the search I saw a lot of back in forth about who had the better system, this is not my intention with this post and please refrain doing so. I'm just looking for how they operate and to operate them if I go any of those routes so I can make sure I set them up properly and don't mess anything up in the process.

Kayak,

Yes you turn the mixer off when filling the injector. The spout or ball valve is for top pouring molds. I have some top injection molds that I can still top pour. This is also used for open molds. I stopped using my micro years ago. As I understand it you can use only one pot or the other for a single color.Hope this helps. The Shooting Star doe not require you to turn tha mixers off when filling.
