DowdlesBaits
Hello everyone I'm new to injecting soft baits and would like to know how to add salt/what kind of salt or another ingredient to my soft plastics to make them sink faster and to lower making costs. Thanks in Advance, any help would be appreciated. Edited February 17, 2015 by DowdlesBaits
Big Ray
Hey DowdlesBaits if you want to use salt this is what I can recommend. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Morton-All-Natural-Canning-Pickling-Salt-4-lb/10318924 Just use a 2:1 ratio. Two parts soft plastisol to one part salt. I tried to get my friend to use the blasting media but he is old school and he does know what he is doing. So he just wants to use the salted Stickbaits. He does catch bass with them so what can I say. Or you can go with the Bead blasting media. Just add 2.25 Tablespoons to every 4 ounces of plastisol. http://www.harborfreight.com/25-lbs-80-grit-glass-bead-media-61875.html Just to warn you though it does scratch the piston of your injector. Mine is scratched up. But I am not worried about it as long as it still works. Edited February 17, 2015 by Big Ray
smallmouthaholic
Hey DowdlesBaits if you want to use salt this is what I can recommend. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Morton-All-Natural-Canning-Pickling-Salt-4-lb/10318924 Is the salt from Wal-Mart ultra-fine? Larger, granular salt causes a weaker bait.
The Dutchman
www.barryfarms.com has popcorn salt which is very fine salt. No mess. Just add to plastic and go.
DowdlesBaits
Okay a lot thanks Big Ray and The Dutchman I will give one of those a try and see how it goes! Edited February 17, 2015 by DowdlesBaits
Bassinfool
I personally will never use anything other than bead blasting media ever again. It's just that much better than salt or the HD additive from Do it. The only trade off I've encountered is some scratching of the injector but that is one I'll take time and time again for the quality of the baits you get. Big Ray
I'm sorry smallmouth I don't know how it compares to other salt. I think Monte mentioned it on this forum so I bought it. I remember when I was doing a search someone mentioned Diamond Crystal salt is a good salt. I don't know where to buy it near me so I can't compare it to what I am using.
