I could not have come close to making a few baits if not for the trial and error of the folks before me. But I havn't seen much in saltwater baits primarily inshore. I've made a few of my favorites such as Mirrolure Catch jr and the mirrOminnow and I really like Joetheplumbers designs, check him out in the gallery. LOL I am just having some fun with you, but now that I live close to both, I often use the same lures for both. It seems a Red or a Speck does not care if a LMB ate it last. Hmmmm. The Redfish Magic we get here at walley world are just a souped up spinner bait and work too! But I'd just feel kinda odd throwin one of those fat little crankbaits out on the flats.... Early morning before the sun is up, and when the water is clear, that would be the ticket at Grand Isle. May have to break out the airbrush. benton B Posted September 2, 2015 Report Share Posted September 2, 2015 My brother has been catching reds on a small wake bait I build for him. Gold foil with a orange belly seems to really work. I tell all my" bass fishing only" buddies that if they ever go with me and start catching big Redfish on top water, they'll never go back to bass fishing again.....same goes for finding a school of gator specks. I still love bass fishing tournaments and stuff but my true place now is the salt marsh here in NC. When the bite is on, there ain't nothing better.
