Wayne26301
I have never tried to make this color and i cant seem to find anything on it. Most of the time i find a picture and try to match it but a buddy wants these says the back is purpleish blue and the pictures i find are like a black. Can anyone help me or does anyone have a recipe for this thanks.
alsworms
Alewife is an interesting one as what that color is to some may not be the same for others. That said, I always just used LC's Minnow Silver with a touch of blue hi-lite for the back, then pour the pearl belly.
SlowFISH
Can't help with recipe - but I agree with the above post - you'll find a range of colors in alewives. In the one lake I fish - I've caught a few alewives to looks at their color for painting up cranks. Some showed a white belly, silver side, purple highlight on the shoulder then a brown on top (Sort of like a LC Ghost minnow bait)... others white belly - silver sides with a blue shoulder and black top.... On both - that purple or blue area was faint and came/went as you looked at different angles... a nice triple color open pour could probably mimic that basic scheme nicely. MonteSS
I would do a silver sparkle (clear plastic with lots of 015 silver hologram) body and for back use same recipe but add a drop of black and a lil purple higlite
jigginpig
I'm going to politely suggest that you can't pour an alewife imitation that actually looks (to a critical eye) anything like an alewife. They have too many iridescent colors that shift depending on the way you look at them. My best advice would be to go with a light smoke (with a green influence) back over translucent pearl, with a good amount of tiny holo flake and silver. Best of luck to you. MonteSS
As said clear with lots of 015 silver hologram works well
