JRammit
I was the new guy a year ago... I posted questions just wanting to be part of the forum.... Honestly, i didnt know there was a search feature...... However, I was greeted with nothing but kindness and helpful advice....... So for all the new newbies reading, think of this as any other fishing forum... These guys are here for the same reason you are, but dont expect them to tell you their best spot, time of day, best lure to use and cast it for you too
Vodkaman
Yes JR, there will always be secrets and that is OK. Personally I have none. I have published some stuff that some people wish I hadn't, but only stuff that I discovered or worked out for myself. If someone confides in me, that stays under wraps. Skeeter
Wow.... Sorry Rowhunter. I guess your idea worked better than you thought. Maybe I need to have a discussion with Gentleman Jack before I get on here after working all day. I promise to stop by the store and get some tommorrow before I sign on. Well, gotta go fellas. Some guy in a white coat is standing here telling me it is time for my pill. Good post. Skeeter
FrogAddict
V-man good post. I honestly wasn't sure if the initial post was a joke. When I started I bet I had twice as many questions but I never wanted to do this for a living!! I think that would take all the fun out of it. crab05
I myself am pretty new and I wasn't aware of the search feature per say. I have done this several times now and thanks for putting up with me.
fatfingers
Dear rowhunter, I always like to help out a new builder so let me give you a tip on this search engine thing. If you do a search, you'll find that there actually is a way to build your own baits as opposed to simply buying a bait and painting it. Now when you do this search, you may want to pack a lunch because the search engine is going to have to go way back to a section of the archives called "Back In The Day" and those records are so old they are written on fragile, yellowed parchment paper. I would not spend too much time reading all that stuff, because those old timers wasted a lot of time on trivial things like innovating, carving, and testing baits that they devised pretty much on their own. Some of them even made their own custom diving lips and eyes. Stencils too. Can you imagine how many plastic ready made baits you could have done instead? I heard that they even developed some of the foiling methods that are still wildly popular today. Who needs all that? Save yourself time and just order up from the newer online catalogs. Hope that helps, Yours truly Fatfingers Tungin Sheek Bait Co..."serving the fishing world since 2014"
jonister
Personally, i had not fully read Rowhunters post till today and thats when i realized its a joke! I have to agree with you full hearten that too many guys just buy the parts and slap together a bait. I see so many "tackle companies" in my area that are all just guys with some money buying a bunch of Chinese parts and putting together spinners, harness rigs, cranks, etc etc. Just because i spent last night tying up some leaders and harnesses doesn't mean i need to sell them. I can only think of a couple companies around here that are truly original. I cant tell you how many of these knock off "companies" were sitting in booths at my local sportsman's show selling spinners and tied leaders. All you need is some cheap parts and some time and your hands and you've got yourself a business. Anyways... just venting, i laughed so hard when i read your post because of how true and funny it is!
