Chance_Taker4
I have been making my own baits for about six months now. I am very happy with my skills I learned and found I enjoy hand pouring my molds. When I make senior and lizards I use injection molds and have found adding scent to injections to be easy. However when I hand pour I cannot get the baits salted. I tried mixing the salt before I pour as well as after I pour into mold and can't grasp how to do it. Any help would be appreciated. nedyarb
If your just pouring, i would try using the glass blasting media sold at harbor freight. For 1 cup of plastic i had to use 1/2 a cup of salt. I only use 1/4 cup of blasting media which makes mixing a lot easier and it suspends in the pplastic better. Big Ray
Maybe he is using too coarse of a salt and it is settling in the cup before he can pour it.

Chance_Taker4
I use kosher salt that I hand grind down to make it smaller and yes it settles to the bottom before I can get it poured.
majic man
Ground salt doesn't have the flat cut edged like manufactured salt, reason it settlers out. Think about it this way, if you wadded a boat up in a ball would it float?
Bass-Boys
the hotter the plastic the faster it settles also... i stir very well then pour 2 baits,, then stir again very well then pour 2 baits and so on.. you can only get 2 pours with average sized baits before you need to stir. make sure you bring the salt to the top when you stir. do not just spin it around , also use a spoon not a rod or knife. the spoon will catch more salt and stir it better.
Chance_Taker4
I live 10mins from the Janns NetCraft showroom. The only reason I am using Grounded up Kosher salt is because the guy at Jann's told me they do t carry bait salt because grounded up Kosher salt works better to go by that salt instead. Get a super fine salt instead. I always found that if I ground up the salt it would wash out the colours and wouldn't suspend at all in the plastic. Switched to a super fine salt (like that sold by bait junky, lure craft, bears baits, MF etc) and it didn't wash the colours out as much and suspended much better. Get a super fine salt instead. Big Ray
I got to ask you Dave out of all of the salts you named who's did you like the best. I am using popcorn salt now and I like it but I want to try out one of the salts you mentioned.
