Big Ray
Hey I just wanted to get your guys opinions. I have been using Baitjunkys plastic and I am almost out. I plan on ordering some more plastic soon. The thing is I really like it and I like the price. The only thing that is bothering me is the fact that it doesn't float. I read that for certain techniques floating plastic is better. Does floating plastic catch more fish or does that not really matter. I am pretty sure most of you guys are going to say something different but I still want to hear what everyone has to say.
JRammit
Id say depends on what youre making...... And i could b wrong on this, but i think floating plastic is softer....
Big Ray
I agree with you JRammit it depends on what I am making. I am sure that if I am going to make some stick baits or a plastic swimbait on a jighead it doesn't matter. But what if I want to make a worm for a Carolina rig. Does a floating plastic make any difference. From what I know it is not just about the plastic being soft for it to float because the first gallon I ordered was Lure craft soft and all of my worms floated. Then I ordered some Baitjunkys soft and they sank. Edited April 18, 2015 by Big Ray

I don't know how a bait made with their soft didn't float on it's own, I've been using the same plastic for several years and all the baits I've made in soft have been buoyant. JRammit
I got the LC soft also... Id say the floating is more versatile, I made a craw bait (in the gallery) with bulbous round claws rather than the flat ones you see on most other baits.. The big claws actually float above the bait making it stand up on the bottom...... You can always add salt if you want the plastic to sink
JRammit
I don't know how a bait made with their soft didn't float on it's own X2.... Some companies sell plastic labeled as "sinking"... I thought thats what u were using....... Ive read on here when u add anything to plastic to make it sink, it becomes harder... For me the softer the better! JRammit
Might look alot better in an aquarium, but heres one with LW plastic Monte, is that skirting threaded through the body? I like it!
Big Ray
I don't get it guys. For some reason my plastic doesn't float like that. I have put worms in a aquarium to test them and they will sink on there own without a hook. Maybe the next batch I order from them will be different. Hook size /weight and the design of the jig head all contribute to a floating presentation..
Big Ray
I never added salt smallmouth. I know that if I want to make a stick bait to add salt. But I made plain old plastic worms and when I used Lurecraft plastic they float. With Baitjunkys it slowly sinks. I am using the same mold and design that is why I figured Baitjunkys plastic must sink.
mark poulson
Contact Baitjunky, and ask him about it.
Big Ray
Yeah Mark I am going to do that. And to let everyone know I still caught fish with it and I do like the stuff. I don't want anyone to think that I am saying that it wasn't any good. Edited April 20, 2015 by Big Ray

MonteSS
Ya half a tab skirt material threaded thru. Some Baitjunkies you can get degassed so no bubbles in the microwave. Maybe try the other one.
Big Ray
He said that no plastic truly floats without bubbles. Maybe that is why my other lures floated they must of had more bubbles in it.
mark poulson
Makes sense, but I don't see any bubbles in Robo worms, and they float.
alsworms
I think he means the floating bubbles? They are microscopic and you won't be able to see them in the end product.

I am quite sure he would have been referring to the plastic floating a hook. none will float a hook without adding micro spheres (floating bubbles) to the plastic
Big Ray
Yeah I heard of that floating additive. I read somewhere that it is dangerous to use and it messes up your plastics color. I am not going to worry about it anymore and just buy some more Baitjunkys plastic I know that it works so that is good enough I guess. Braided Line
Each type has it`s own application when fishing. Neither is better than the other. Just used differently. As I live in Fla. I always have one rod rigged with a Zoom floater ready for action. Love my floaters.

Not easy to work with and I really couldn't tell a difference. Tried it on a few batches and done! However, some people swear by how good it is. To each his own, I guess.
