Mumpy
Any tips on how I can paint Tiger Stripes fairly easy and uniformly? TIA
mark poulson
If you can find a sharpie in the color you want, it's pretty simple to do it with them. When I paint my bluegill stripes, I use a comb with some teeth removed, and some teeth covered with masking tape, so I get a two teeth wide stripe, and a two teeth wide gap. I'm sure you could make a stencil using a clear margarine tub top, or something like that, too.
osutodd
I found a tiger stripe stencil at Hobby Lobby. It's bigger than my baits, so it ends up being more of a "jailbird" look than tiger stripe if I don't use the right part of the stencil. But it does look good either way. Bois d'Arc
Mark's suggestion is a good one. I use clear frisket on both sides of the comb then use a sharpie to mark the edges of the frisket with something on the blank...top of eyes, gill edges, etc. That way I can get consistent alignment of the stripes on the blank. When done wash off the markings and overspray and its ready for use with a diffrent blank.
