Shooting W/a Lam. Plate

Recommended Posts

I do hand poured laminations, where I add two different colors to one half of a fat Ika mold, close, and then hand pour the other half.

I make sure my plastic is at least 335 degrees to start.

Recently, I was interrupted before I could close my mold and pour the third color. When I finally got to pour the third color I heated my plastic to 335 again and poured the now-closed mold.  The hot plastic melted into the cold plastic and bonded just fine.  The fat Ika is thick enough that maybe it has time to melt before it cooled.

I don't know how it goes with injected molds, but, for hand pours, it works just fine.
