Painter1
Making some spoons and want them to be a bright chrome color. Is there anything better than Pro-Tec "Ultimate Chrome" out there? I am hoping for brighter.
LimpNoodle
You could foil them. No paint is going to equal chrome. I've used a couple that look good....till you put the necessary top coat on them. Chrome is not a color. It's a metallic finish.
cadman
If the spoons you are referring to are lead poured spoons, you can have them chrome plated. This however is not a cheap options, as there are lot charges to do plating.
Painter1
They are lead poured spoons. I agree that the chrome paint does not look like the real thing. Is there a DIY plating method available that anyone is using? Or a paint system that really looks good?
mark poulson
One of the reasons I began using Target Coatings SC 9300 (super clear) urethane as a top coat (thank you Husky) was that it did not diminish or dull metallic paints. You might try something like that.
LimpNoodle
There is a kit for plating lead. As I recall it starts at $600 before shipping and is quite toxic.
Basseducer
If you have a local chrome shop, you can ask them to do your parts when they do other jobs. That might get you by cheap. Unless you are trying to do thousands.
Kasilofchrisn
Read my thread on foil baits. http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/27948-how-to-foil-a-jig-like-this/?hl=foil It is the shinniest finish I have found. The metallic foil for duct work is OK. But my preference is the holographic foils. I airbrush accent colors and top coat with D2T.
