Veto
I need some advice with my split shots. I'm using 99.9% pure lead and my splits are still very hard to open and close. I'm using a Lee 20lb production pot and pure lead! Why are they so hard after pouring?
mark poulson
Have you been naughty? I always blame my most recent life choices whenever something goes wrong. Hahaha Seriously, I have no clue, but someone here should know. Edited July 6, 2015 by mark poulson

DaBehr
Maybe give Do-it Customer Service a call and see if anyone there has a suggestion?
odinohi
Maybe your lead isn't as soft as you think it is. What was the source of the lead?
dlaery
when you break off the spru, does it bend back and forth before it breaks off? or does it snap off? if it is hard lead it won't bend much, just snap off. it it bends back and forth then it should be soft lead. Clarify this: are still very hard to open and close are you using your teeth? or a pair of pliers? or your fingers? Veto
I never thought of the metal possibly being not as pure as advertised so I went with new lead from Roto Metals. From what I have read they are a good company with pure lead as advertised! I will dump and clean my pot and refill it with the new lead and go from there. Thanks again for the info everyone. wildwolfproducts
Sounds like your lead is not pure soft lead. I can use my pure and they work great. I messed up and used some with wheel weights and I'm here to tell you better have pliers to close them. Pete
