Groucho
Hello; Just starting out with plastic lure making and have been reading alot on the forum about bead media scratching injectors. Since I'm not doing it for mass production just for friends wouldn't it be better for me to use a handpour mold than an injection mold for senkos. Any draw backs to this. You can get either style in CNC molds. Thanks
Basseducer
So far from what I have read, the scratching is not causing problem. On hand pour, two piece molds the cavities are vertical and the media may settle to one end. On most injection molds the cavities are horizontal, so even if the media settles it should be evenly distributed along the length of the bait.
mark poulson
I haven't noticed any problem with my injector since I began using bead media. Having the material settle to the bottom more is actually a plus for my hand pour Ika molds. Since I rig them with the hook passing through the skirt, the heavier end helps with casting, and also helps them fall away from me when I pitch them. The hotter the plastic, the more settling I get. Typically, I try and pour with the plastic at around 330 degrees when I begin, so the settling is minimal.
