barr5150
Anybody used the grain sealer yet? I purchased a quart of the normal solarez awhile back to try as a topcoat but didn't like it. I did however try it as a sealer and it does exactly what I need. Problem being, I ran out. Looking around on their site to buy another can and I saw this stuff. Wondering if it wouldn't be a better fit? http://solarez.com/products/vinyl-ester-uv-cure-grain-sealer/
BobP
Well, I doubt you'll get many replies because there probably aren't many (any?) TU guys who have used it. It's advertised to adhere better to oily woods, so if you build with redwood or cedar, it might be an enhancement. Then again, it doesn't have a track record regarding leveling out, thickness of coating, waterproofness etc. The price is the same as the regular high gloss Solarez resin. So ??? barr5150
I kinda thought the same thing but figured I'd throw it out there and see if anyone had tried it. I only build with balsa now so I doubt there is any real advantage? Always looking for the next best thing like everyone else I guess. fish pirate
I am using this product with great results. I am running tests on several UV products and will post results soon. I can say that this is a great product.
barr5150
Cool. Have you tested it on balsa?
fish pirate
Yes, all the testing is being done with balsa.
SW Lures
At this time I'm working with cedar. Even if your working with balsa, I'll still be eager to read your results. Dale
