Little Chardy
Is it possible to open pour in one side of a hard aluminum mold and then close the mold and use the injector to fill in the rest of the mold so to eliminate the need for a laminate plate? Walking Dead
It will work. Timing is the issue. Plastic must have a cool coating so it will not spill when you close and turn it up to clamp and shoot. Hard to get a full side with all the little cracks a crevisis. JRammit
Will not work with small baits... I found this out the hard way... But will work fine with larger baits The more plastic you pour in the mold, the longer it will say warm (enough to bond with the second color)

Little Chardy
Thank you so much for responding. I've been making wire baits for 5 or 6 years now, but I haven't poured any plastics yet. I went to a fishing demo a couple of weeks ago and the guy doing the demo was using senkos because a cool front was coming in and the bass where not responding to spinnerbaits. It blow me away to see how aggressive these fish were when he through these senkos.
JRammit
HMMMMMM, pretty sure there are quite a few people doing this with very small baits. Didnt work for me Made a 4 cavity mold of a 2" crappie jig... I shot 3 dozen baits through it before i realized they were delaminating when i put a hook in one The colors stick together fine, but i could easily peel them apart
DaveMc1
a clear dip solves that issue.

DaBehr
The injected plastic needs to be very hot...so that it melts the lower layer. Make sure you inject slowly so it doesn't lift the bottom and then flash around the entire bait.
mark poulson
I do that with my hand pour aluminum Fat Ika molds. Sometimes I do three colors. Just be sure the next color is hot, so it melts into the previous color and bonds. Use heat stabilizer, so you can reheat without burning your plastic. rynesgto
I have a problem shooting two colored 702s. If I don't inject hard enough, the plastic don't make its way up to the claws. If I inject hard enough, the bait lifts up like mentioned above and ruins the whole bait
mark poulson
Be sure your vents are clear before you inject the second color. Use steady pressure and hot plastic.
Walking Dead
I have limited myself on the 702s to just a portion of the body, using the claw mold, or shooting with twin injectors. Just could not get the plastic up into the claw areas.
emptystringer81
I always hear people say make sure you don't over heat the plastic, what happens if you over heat the plastic? does it change the color or get too hard?
DaveMc1
It starts to turn very orange/yellow/amber, after that it burns and the chemicals it releases when it burns aren't good!!!!!
