Vodkaman
I'll even do the that skunk w/ the creeper blades but better, just for the heck of things. It is comments like the above that really get people's backs up, certainly mine. If you could tone down the severe delusions of grandeur attitude, then I would certainly be interested in what you had to say and show. There are no superstars on this site, only those that we personally choose to give that status to. I have a few superstars, but I am not going to embarrass them by naming them here. I wish you lots of success with your lures and congratulate you on your prize. I hope you pay attention to the attitude advice that several members have been generous enough to offer you. The correct attitude will serve you well here on TU, but perhaps more importantly, in life. Dave

Curt - NC
He has the video on his YouTube channel... With his permission, i would post the link here If the video is on YouTube (which it is), it's viewable by the public, so I don't think he would mind. But maybe play it safe and wait for him to reply here.
Popular Post basskiddcase
If I may add, that companies like StankXbait should not be allowed to enter b/c they have professional tools that the average person don't have. But, I guess there's no rules. And as I was saying up there, you have to judge on practicality or innovation more sometimes b/c I don't see how the antique lipless crank can win over the other ones. It just looks like a dried up painted lure. If I rank that, I would put that under the handpainted stuff. Just saying. I can see how the vibrating cicada would win. I think that should win in it's category if not the whole b/c it's unlike anything I've seen. Perhaps the best Cicada. If you know your lures, you would know that DUO makes the best. I had that one beating it. Anyways, the point is that a LuckyCraft jerkbait will lose to Storm any day of the week if you judge on practicality. If you judge on appeal, then it's the other way around. That's my point. Just a thought. This is why we have these forums right? To me the top lure or the blue back herring shouldn't be rank that high b/c they took the idea from Live Koppers. Second, it had the profile of the Berkley lure. No one cares for that lure. If I was mistaken, then why do they sell that lure on Overstockbait Outlet? Just saying. Next time, you can have me as a judge since I'm thinking about not entering. Kaimon, First off let me thank you for calling my hands "professional tools". I hand poured these lures from a pyrex cup, into a silicone mold. Then airbrushed them by hand. Placed each eye by hand, then dipped them by hand once again. Every piece of equipment in my shop is made either by stuff offered in stores (like the one hosting this contest), or built by myself. I started my company from a 4 cavity worm mold from Delmart. Sadly egos and lack of humility are the reason I do not frequent forums anymore. I was so stoked and honored to hear the news. Only to get my accomplishment sullied, by someone that has done no research on the company they speak of. My passion is my shop. My company has grown over seven years, by lifting others up, not tearing them down. 16 hour days for 7 years got me the chance to quit my job of 16 years and stay at home to raise my boys during the day and hone my passion by night. Lastly I have to thank you one more time. Over the seven years I have been doing this I have realized a few things. One being, If you got haters, then you are doing something right. This will be this evenings motivation to push and inspire myself and others...
kaimon
I'll keep things to myself. As for the blades, I'm pretty sure i can make Pompadou ones out of sheet metal, but why? I could use the ones I order from Lurepartsonline. Doesn't seem to hurt no one. Or does it?
Popular Post m_vandorn
I would like to add a positive note to this discussion. The really great thing about the business or hobby of lure making is that the possibilities are endless. From my experience and what I’ve read, there will never come a day when every possible lure design has been made and sold. The variables are far too great. For example, there is freshwater, saltwater and brackish water. Then there is pond fishing, lake fishing, river fishing, creeks, streams, fishing on the beach, in from boats, way out in the ocean and I’m sure I haven’t covered them all. Add on top of that; there are different lures for different types of fish and there are so many types of lures, such as, topwater, crankbaits, soft baits, jigs of all kinds and don’t forget all of the color combination and unique designs, such as what kaimon did with sea shells. I know the above is not new information to anyone on this site, but my point is this; it does not matter the competition. The lure making business does not belong to big manufacturers. There are thousands of home based lure making businesses and room for many, many more. It could easily rivals that of jewelry makers. Like the jewelry making business, lure making is a form of art. So, if you are making lures as a business or a hobby, it is an exciting endeavor. Lure making is not just about catching fish, it is about catching the eye of the fisherman and I have to say, there are a lot of eye catching creative artist that frequent this site. I mean there was an entry in the contest where a guy made a small pike like lure out of foam insulation and it was beautiful. I believe there is good reason to be optimistic about what we are doing and I am looking forward to learning from the many artist on this site. diemai
@ JRammit Certainly you may link ANY of my humble videos anywhere you please , ........like Curt stated , they're up to public view(really need to switch to another browser but IE , enabling my to do it by myself) . But that video there is not detailed explanation about how to make the wings , just some brief information and assembly pictures . But there isn't really much to it , ......provided , one has access to the tools to work with stainless steel sheet(shears for straight and curved cuts , fine metal saw , files , drillpress , vise , plastic hammer , hammer , riveter , polishing wheels and a few others) . The probably most complicated(or better said , maybe most uncommon) thing , ........the way how to make the creeper wings hinge ferrules , ....has already been put up for here on TU since 6 1/2 years , ...please check the forum section "Hardbaits " under topic "Member Submitted Tutorials" , .....somewhere on page two there is a thread titled "Sheet Metal Hinges" , ...my initial post there contains a PDF file about such hinges , ...basically same way the hinge ferrules of my creeper wings were made , ......BUT , ....a lot more simple to do than the rather elaborate swimbait hinges , .....I promise ! Thanks a lot for your interest , always happy and glad , if I should be able to provide a little input and help with my humble lure,-and video work , .....greetings , Dieter Edited November 2, 2015 by diemai
RayburnGuy
Your much too humble Dieter. I've worked with stainless steel and it's not the easiest material to work with. Especially when your shooting for a mirror finish with no scratches or blemishes. Ben
m_vandorn
I have to agree with RayburnGuy, working with stainless steel sheet metal is not all that easy, specially when you are working on such a small piece like those wings. I'm sure, if I looked hard enough, I'd be able to find a scare or two from when I've tried it. I would like to view the video. Can you tell me what to search for on YouTube to find it? diemai
@m_vandorn Just type in "Homemade Creeper Lure" into the YouTube search bar ,.....my channel name there is "61diemai" . I agree about the difficulties on working with stainless steel , , ......but for the creeper wings it's just 0,5 mm thick sheet and for the assembly plates it's 1,0mm thickness , ...still manageable to me , ......I'm handmaking stainless casting spoons of 1,5mm and up to 2,0 mm stainless sheets as well , ....and the 2,0mm stuff is getting increasingly tough . Curt - NC
It was the fabrication aspects of Dieter's creeper bait that got my attention. That was some serious engineering and skill that went into making those wings. And the resulting action/noise of the lure sealed the deal when it came to the hard work paying off.

Curt - NC
It's the humility and willingness to share, such as what Dieter has exhibited, that makes TU a great place to learn and grow. As soon as puffed up heads and big egos get involved, it all goes out the window. I hope everyone can learn a valuable lesson from posts like those that Dieter makes, along with others like him who are willing to share and help others, instead of veiling everything in secrecy and playing King of The Hill in their heads.
