vabassen02
I know this is the right place to ask , what salt is used in the packing of robo worms and I believe Paul using something like it also , it's a fine salt . Is it just a little fine salt and no oil ??? Help , thanks in advance
smallmouthaholic
Salt and oil mix will make a mess in the package as will salt and moisture. That said, most will probably mention Popcorn salt but in my experience,Bear's Baits Ultra fine salt is the finesest particle size available. http://www.bearsbaits.com/Salt_p_149.html
fishon-son
you you want the finist salt take kosher salt put a cup into the magic bullet and let her rip for about 45 seconds it will be like powder...bears don't have crap on it....I use it in my tube baits popcorn salt is the finist I found to buy... vabassen02
Thanks guys will give a try , no oil just salt ?
alsworms
As mentioned, oil and salt DO NOT mix. Just the salt should be fine. I was a fan of popcorn salt.....which was plenty fine. I haven't tried the others. I HAVE burned up a blender trying to grind regular salt, though. LOL Good luck!
mark poulson
I use the ex's coffee grinder to grind salt...maybe that's why she's an ex...nah, it couldn't be something I did, could it?
MonteSS
Salt for packing does not need to be fine
Braided Line
If you want to go that route try rice. Not for large packing though.
alsworms
Salt for packing does not need to be fine Good point. Mainly used to keep the baits separated, and an eye catcher.....but when I packaged in regular salt, I noticed mine just didn't look right. The large grain salt would sometimes hide the colors of the bait. Once I discovered popcorn salt, problem solved. Once again, if you're making them for yourself, any salt will do. If selling to the public, I'd go with finer grains. Just my
fishon-son
you dont want a blender for grinding salt down.....but i know the bullet is just like it...just alot faster and smaller....been using this for two yrs now..a cup at a time maybe two cups but that's it...best salt around...look for a bullet at thrift store or garage sales..i have 3 of them your salt will be like powder if you let it run to long.....but I found powdered salt works great in tubes..... FATFLATTIE
Maybe it is just me but just putting the salt in the bag is a waste of money and time. It isn't serving a purpose so why do it in the first place? It may "catch the eye" of an uneducated angler but as soon as the bait hits the water it is gone so it doesn't help the effectiveness of the bait. Me personally, I just feel like you could be using that time and money on other things. Just my $.

Oil is your other option, but that took more time than salting......for me, anyway.
Bass-Boys
oil and or scent ( scent is the most cost ) cost more than salt too..
Saugerman
Have not heard of the bullitt. Who makes it? Is it a grinder?
rixon529
https://www.getmgicbullet.com/?gclid=CIGEnfj67cgCFckWHwodgqYEeA Sold at Walmart, Target, Kohl's, etc.. Edited November 1, 2015 by rixon529
FATFLATTIE
I soak my baits in scent so I don't have to use anything to keep the baits from sticking and packaging is fine because the baits are slick with the scent. I don't even add salt to the plastisol.
