Airbrush From Japan

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I've been reading and learning about lure making/painting from this excellent forum for a couple of years now. I've trunrd and painted a number of Musky size surface baits. They've caught fish too: up to 49.5 inches. I've tried the single action and the cheap duel action air brushes. This winter I plan to try to learn to paint bass size crankbaits. I would like to get an Iwata Eclipse HP-CS Gravity Feed Airbrush Model ECL4500. I have noticed on Ebay that you can buy this brush directly from Japan. The sellers seem to be pretty highly rated. Has anyone had any experience with these airbrushes anh buying from these companies? Thanks in advance for any replies good or bad.

Well if it's a true iwata then it really comes down to price as long as it's not a knockoff you should be good but have you looked at some of the craft stores in your area they often have deep discount coupons to get you in the store and many carry the name brand AB's but as to the model that one is a winner for sure I love my iata's plain and simple they work great and very good feel in the hand.

If your talking about the ones on Ebay for that list for anywhere from $68.91 to $90 they seem to be authentic and Iwata is a popular, well made airbrush. They're also easy to get parts for. If you trust the seller and that is the brush you want then I'd say go for it. Only drawback that I can see is that if they are shipped from Japan it might take a while to get it in your hands.

Hey ctenn, I use an Iwata HP-CS...it's a good tool. I bought mine because it has a great reputation as an all round workhorse...it's better than I am. I don't know about direct order, but I do know Hobby Lobby gives a good discount on airbrushes and compressors...plus everything else. That's the route we took. I do small work compared to most of the guys.012.JPG This is an example. Cheers, Ed

If it is legit i would suggest getting the one with the .035 tip as opposed to the .030 nozzle. I looked through most of them and the price is 1/2 of what the cost at retailers in the states. The least expensive from the states on ebay that I found was $115 with free ship.....Can't go wrong with that brush I have 4 iwatas and 2 are Eclipses. You really would never need to upgrade to another brush......
