goodtimesfishing
Have any of you guys tried a clear coat called "spray max 2k"? It is suppose to be automotive grade urethane and it is in a 2 part spray can.
woodieb8
we use urethanes everyday. great topcoats on plastics. use a respirator and blowers system.
BobP
It looks like an aerosol can spray system for a two part urethane, with the parts mixed in the can before use. My question is this: after you mix the 2 parts in the can, how long is the pot life for the resulting finish? My thinking is that it would be a limited time period and that the finish is designed for single use projects.
goodtimesfishing
Bobp- I read that the pot life depends on the ambient temperature. Higher temp less life, cooler temp longer life. It stated that at 20 degrees Celsius(68 Fahrenheit) it has a pot life of 48hrs. That is from the manufacturer. Read in another place that it last anywhere from 2 days to a week if kept cool. I was actually surprised that it would last that long considering it is a 2 part mix. woodieb8
I'm confused. is it a pre-mixed spray bomb or a 4to1 mix urethane. if its auto-motive 4to 1 pot life for spay is approx. 3 hours depending om temps.. one thing automotive clears don't yellow and are uv clear. as said though . respiaters and blower is needed. goodtimesfishing
It is a single can with a extra chamber inside......then there is a button on bottom of can that when activated it combines the 2. You are suppose to shake can for 2 minutes before activating and 2 minutes after activating.
Hughesy
I wish you could get Dick Nite's urethane in a spray can. Is there a problem putting moisture cure urethanes in spray cans?
BobP
Wouldn't think so Hughesy, but it would need an inert propellant like nitrogen/argon, which is used in Bloxygen aerosol finish saver.
