Roadkill
I'm into making vintage lures and need to find a mold for a "Little Suzy". Very similar to a Little George but has a flat 45 degree angle (/) on the face. Have searched on line and Ebay with no results. Any help greatly appreciated. Roadkill
OK, thanks to all so far. I've got the Do-It molds and they are not the same. The "Suzy" has a very flat face angled at about 45 degrees. I found one on Ebay that I have ordered. Soon as I get it I will try to post a pic if I can figure out how to do it. Thanks Again. Roadkill
Thanks RayburnGuy. YEP, that's the one I bought on Ebay in the hopes that I can get someone to make me a mold using that as an example.
Apdriver
Thanks RayburnGuy. Just depends on how bad you want one.
Kasilofchrisn
What is so different from the cutface tail spinner Do-It makes? Will the minor differences really matter to the fish? I.E. is it that radically different that you can see a difference in the lures action or your catch rate suffering? Just curious as I do see some differences but not enough for me to spend $200-$300 vs a $35 Do -It mold. But if you gotta have it you gotta have it. I do own some custom CNC molds myself but with the ones I have nothing comes close in size or style commercially.
edgecrusher
He could rtv it, or have someone rtv it if he really wanted it.
Kasilofchrisn
He could rtv it, or have someone rtv it if he really wanted it. Good point that would probably be the least expensive way to get a few copies of this bait. If it turns out a real winner then a more expensive aluminum mold could be ordered. You could most likely use the inserts for the cut face tail spinner Do-It sells.
Roadkill
OK, Thank you all for the comments and advice. I think I'll go with most of the advice and just use the Do It cut face mold. Did some figuring and it would take forever to recover the cost of having a mold built. Thanks again and good fishing to all.
mark poulson
I would try taking that mold and grinding out the faces so they were straight, like you want. Or you could use some JB Weld to fill in the ends and make the mold face flat, but that would make it a little lighter. I've done both with other molds, and both ways work.
