Painter1
I have several 3.5 inch to 6.5 inch paddle tail swim bait molds and I want to spend some time fishing them. The baits have a slit belly, like a fluke does so the question is - is it best to work them on a weighted hook or with a weedless snootie jig? As always, your thoughts are most welcome. cadman
I would use them on a weighted hook. JMO?
Jeff Hahn
Yes, fish them on a weighted swimbait hook. If you texspose the tip in the top of the bait you can swim the bait through some pretty heavy cover.
smalljaw
I'll be different, I prefer the jig head route unless I'm fishing shallow areas with grass or some other type of cover. The reason is the jig head puts the weight in the front, that allows me to be able to drop it and the tail still swims as it is falling. On the smaller 3.5" to 4" baits I like the shad head rig jig with the wire keeper, on large baits I like a Snootie but I use it without a weed guard, if there is any cover at all I use the weighted hook.
