Finesse Jig Hook

Recommended Posts

Round bend - helps the bait hang straighter.  How much finesse are you talking??

Simmons Sporting Goods in Bessemer, AL phone 205-426-0490 has a custom Eagle Claw Classic SPECIAL Bronze 1350, and the last time I checked they were about $10 a hundred.  Not sure if they have any besides size 2.  They are not listed at Capt Hooks or Shorty's.

Pros and cons to each and a lot of it depends on where you are throwing it and the trailer type. I find that if I'm fishing the smaller 3/16oz Eakins style jigs, I'll throw them on a medium power spinning rod and sometimes a casting set up but it will be medium power with 8 to 10lb line. If that is the situation then I'm using the round bend hook but if I'm throwing the 5/16oz or 7/16oz version, I'll be using 12lb to 14lb line on a casting set up with a MH rod and on those I like the sproat hook. The reason is the sproat is less likely to bend out and you lose less fish, remember, these are finesse jigs made with standard wire hooks, they won't bend out but can flex and just a small amount of flex can cost you a good fish.
