Painter1
Has anyone worked with this Underspin mold called the Herring Head? I was just about to modify a mold to look like this. Blade clearance from Swimbait looks good http://store.do-itmolds.com/Herring-HeadbrSz-18-14-38-12-58brHk-GAM-604brCollar-Ring-amp-Barb_p_1161.html
cadman
There is a thread I started about 10 threads down. Here it is. Do-It Herring Head Underspin Mold - #3510 I ordered my mold from LPO and should be getting it Tuesday. I will be pouring it on Wednesday. First time using this mold so I will report back when I do my first order. I don't expect any problems.
DaBehr
The mold is easy to pour and the bait produced a lot of really nice bass (and a big walleye) for me this fall. When you pinch the spinner loop shut use a large pair of pliers so that you don't twist and loosen the wire in the lead (not that it really matters. ..the blade will always run straight anyway)
Vodkaman
DaBehr - I was thinking the same about that open loop, it just looks dodgy, but I am sure it is fine. Dave
LimpNoodle
There's nothing dodgy about the loop or the wire.
smalljaw
I have the ultra minnow mold that my friend Apdriver modified for me to take a small swivel that I attach a Worth ball bearing swivel to with a size 3.5 blade for all the sizes but I use 1/4oz and 3/8oz almost exclusively. I thought I was going to have a clearance problem but I don't, and the reason being is when you retrieve it, the blade is not perfectly straight back, it is at a slight angle unless you really burn it but that defeats the purpose of it. Some guys aren't doing to good with them and others are having a ton of success and I wasn't doing so great in warm water with it but in the cooler water it worked very well.
