cheesehead
Check out this site. I read about them in the Oct issue of workbench mag. it's got me interested in trying to turn my own handles. Of course I don't own a lathe and have never built a rod before. anyone else care to give it a try http://www.classiccustomwood.com/
woodsac
They look beautiful. But I don't think I would want to have to hold one for 6 or 8 hours.
Mattman
I also cringe when I think of the weight involved.
Celticav
Wow, those look pretty. He would probably laugh his a$$ if he saw the last two rods that I had built, they are so "skeleton'ized" with just a reel seat and an end butt. Cheesehead, if your interested you could grap a small lathe off ebay pretty cheap, JIM
cheesehead
He claims to be able to get them balanced pretty good however they have to weigh more than cork. I would consider using a wooden handle on some trolling rodsbut probably not on anything that I would be holding all day.
