SW Lures
I search this topic in the forums, but just didn't read what I'm looking for. I have a nice shop but I was thinking about Barr's lighting in his/her shop area. My lighting in the shop is just not good enough now for painting and shaping the baits. One person wrote that he/she was having the same problem that I'm having. That person connot see light colors and shades of light colors. Natural light color is what was suggested. Is there something better? I believe I just need a hanging unit at work areas. Then the type of bulb I need, any suggestions for what we do. Thanks, Dale
sonoman
Sams club has a multi LED shop light that kicks butt imo, its not expensive and has plenty of light, I plan on buying several more very soon.
DingerBaits
Use Daylight bulbs, I believe they are the 5K or 5700K bulbs. Makes a huge difference. I have a 4 strip T8 Fluorescent bulb (5700) fixture then 4 recessed lights with 5K bulbs in it. Colors look the way they should.
SW Lures
Thanks for your opinions. I'll look into them. I differently need something extra. Dale

Travis
I went with LED also but for most of the LED shop lights (big box store) you won't get a good color rendering index. Mine was a trade off for the lack of power run to my shop and the need for light on demand. The CFL I had used more power and put out less lumens and would take a few minutes to warm up (absolutely hate). If I was ready to tackle the power issue in my shop would have likely just used T5HO. Teamed up with good reflectors you can throw a lot of light where you need it and have a lot of options in regards to bulbs. You can mix and match if need also.
Vodkaman
This may not be directly applicable. I always paint my workshop walls white. This does help a lot. Dave
RayburnGuy
It also helps to have light coming from multiple angles so you don't have shadows. Even the slightest shadow can throw color perception way off. Ben
SW Lures
Thank you all for your input. I've been fighting a bad cold the last few days, really didn't feel like writing anything until now. Yes, I have sheet rock walls with paint and I will have multiple angles Ray. Thanks Travis for the info and it did help. I have gallery lights down both side of the room and florescent in the middle. I'm going to change the bulbs in the middle and readjust the gallery for the different angles. Over the designated work areas I'm going with hanging LED's. If that don't do it I'm moving outside. Well... I'll do all this once I get my strength back. Yep pretty bad. Cheers, Dale
SW Lures
Wait!!........, with all this snow and wind I will keep trying to get the lighting right in the shop. Moving "outside" is not a option at this time!! Maybe when it gets back up into the 70's. Just my thoughts for the day. Just sayin, or (edited) Snowman Dale Edited January 23, 2016 by DaleSW
