aubrey ferguson
jitterbug lures top water surface. 2 1/2 to 3 inch size. Not for the muskie. Am I correct the usual replacement hooks are treble #2 size and #4? What is your advice on using a double hook bronze replacement in a size #1 and a #3? Would a size #1 or #3 double be to small or to large? The only reason I consider the doubles is they are readily available locally. And I also have some weedless jitterbug lures to repair that will require replacement double hooks. Thanks Aubrey Ferguson

BobP
It's problematic to suggest specific hook sizes because different brands and models of trebles have different shank lengths and different baits have different spacing between the treble hook hangers. I just keep a selection of trebles in regular and short shank in #6, #4, and #2 sizes. The general idea is to use the largest trebles that fit the bait without either fouling or hampering the action of the bait.
