bam424
What type of pen or marker do you use sign your lure? I've used a sharpie but too thick of lines.
A-Mac
I used to use a sharpie fine point, but be sure to shoot createx clear over it. Some clear coats will make these run. My favorite method is creating a decal of my signature. I snap a picture of my signature, upload it into microsoft word, crop the image some, and shrink it down to the size I need. After I make the size I need, copy and paste it about 400 times to fill up a sheet, then print it out on clear label paper. Note, I still shoot clear over the label, but it's tough to fit McAlexander on a 1.5" lure with a sharpie :-)
bam424
Thanks. Most likely just using my initials.
RayburnGuy
If the memory is working today seems like BobP uses a calligraphy pen to sign his initials on baits. Don't recall what type of ink he uses. I'm sure he will chime in when he reads this or you can do a search. Ben
Bad Mullett
I also use a calligraphy pen but use black or white (depending on the lure color) air brush paint which is kept in a separate small glass bottle. Same as above I once used sharpies but had issues with the ink running depending on the top coat.
nedyarb
This pen has not bled with any topcoat I have tried. It works great. http://www.hobbylobby.com/p/4811
Cougarftd
Micron 005 pen, the only one that ever runs is the red, if you use black you are good to go...I too had problems with Sharpie running (sorry...I hadn't clicked on the link of the post before) He's right!!! haha Edited February 5, 2016 by Cougarftd
BobP
Yeah, you can buy a fine point calligraphy pen at a hobby shop for just a few bucks. They are just a fountain pen point mounted in a plastic stick. I just dip the pen in black Createx. Since it's the same water based acrylic paint I use to paint lures, there's never an issue with it running or fading, which you can get with solvent based Sharpies, etc. There are myriad ways to sign lures. The water slide decals make a very nice signature that is exactly and endlessly repeatable. I've also seen guys use a custom rubber signature stamp. I'm just a hobby builder so slopping my initials on there seems good enough for the baits I give away to family and friends. If I built for sale, that would be different. dpalinsk
X2 on the Micron 005 Black. I've learned that you need to let it sit for awhile before topcoating otherwise it will smear. I typically hit with hair dryer and then let 'em sit at least 15 minutes
barr5150
X3 on the pigma pens. Best I found so far.
joetheplumber
Sharpie makes water based paint pens now and they work well for more than just signatures. I purchased a 3 pen set of pearl silver, pearl gold and pearl copper and use them for all kinds of stuff and haven't had any issues with them running.
Vicious Fishers
Posca paint pens work for me. Good range of sizes and colours. However I do spray my topcoat.
