Kscatman76
I bought some skirt unlimited rattle band skirts from TackleWarehouse. They are the fairly expensive ones, being $4.99 for 50 of them. First off they are awesome skirt bands, very well built and tight which I really like. However they absolutely REEK of gasoline smell and now customers are returning the jigs I sold them. I just assumed the smell would go away after a few days out in the open? Anyone else have any experience with them and will that smell go away? it's not the skirt, it's the band and it smells terrible bad. costing me money now with customers. thoughts? and thanks in advance. travis

archery1
Not a fan of the mickey mouse style rattle bands. they seem to break or stretch .I had several of them break b4 i got to use the jig.I don't think there is a alternative though unless you tie the rattles on jig. I use the o-rings an they have been working for me . Just buy the glass rattles and insert them into plastic or buy these? http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Skirts_Unlimited_Rattle_Strap_20pk/descpage-SURS.html Edited February 12, 2016 by archery1
Kscatman76
these new "stinky" smelling ones are super tough, they are so strong and tough it's really hard to get them up my jig making tool. If they didn't smell they would be perfect.
Walking Dead
For rattles I use the same ones that Archery posted. I use them as doubles or snip one for singles. Rattles are put in the holder with a drop of super glue gel. Occasionally I tie smallest onto the hook shank on select jigs.

edgecrusher
I know the smell, their skirt tabs generally have that smell too, I guess you get used to it as I don't notice it anymore.
smalljaw
Normally the skirts have the smell and you just leave them in the open for a few days and it will go away . For those bands here is what I would do, put them in a small container and add a drop of Dawn dish soap and warm water and give them a quick wash and rinse and let air dry for a day and see if it still has the smell. If that doesn't work then try putting them in a bag with some unscented talc, that may absorb the odor and if that fails, email Skirts Unlimited and ask them what you should do.
