drockcrestwood
Newbie here. Need help figuring out how to keep color consistent between pours. Pouring small batches. Pyrex cup in a microwave. Starting with 16ozs of plastic. When I started I was throwing the spro back in the cup and remelting every other shot. The color degraded quickly and became very dull so I started throwing the spro in a separate cup and not remelting any of it so I was reheating a lot less and I got a very consistent color for as many baits as I could shoot for 16ozs. I liked the color so much I wanted to double the batch. Well, I've got all this already colored plastic, so I topped off the cup with new plastic and remelted the plastic from the 1st pour, I knew I would have to add some color and thought I had it pretty close but upon curing, what I came out with, was, I had 1 batch of great looking color and 1 batch of a much duller color. So my question is, when do I get to use all this plastic from other pours and how do I get a consistent color if I do? Any help is greatly appreciated. I think I'm getting addicted to plastic! Thanks Drock
JRammit
Big question, what color? Darker colors usually dont have this problem... With lighter colors, heat stabilizer will help a lot I usually pour until the cup is low (keeping spru's aside) then throw the spru's in and remelt for a few more pours
rynesgto
I keep it to small batches. 4 or 8 ounces. I write down my recipe so I can keep.it consistent.
Bassinfool
May be overheating your plastic. Also, if you're using flake it may be bleeding during your reheats giving you a different color.
camrynekai
This is a good way to keep track.
walleyeking
I seem to have better luck with reheats if I cut the peices smaller so the plastic can heat more evenly. I do 8 oz at most though.
