emptystringer81
My dad always tells me about how him and his old fishing partner used to wipe them out with the Stanley craw worm. I dont think they make them anymore but was wondering if there is a mold thats close to this, Would be neat to suprise my dad with some that I made. JRammit
If you have an old one laying around, looks like it would be an easy design to mold in plaster.... Doesnt get any closer than the real thing!
emptystringer81
Yea I'll have to look into how to do that, good idea

FATFLATTIE
Bob has a craw worm mold but it's hand pour and somebody makes an injection mold. Looks very similar to the Gene Lawrew salt craw. That was a staple of fishermen when I was younger .
Vodkaman
It does look simple enough to whittle one up and make a plaster mold. Also, a lot of good words have been written here on TU about the 702 craw mold, which looks like a modern day version of this. Dave
emptystringer81
yeah, I have the 702 mold, i love it.

Travis
It has a small hole in the underside thats labled "HOLE" lol Check again and see if that O is fact an A, as in HALE. I thought the Hale craw is still being made and is a Stanley product or however that venture went.
Walking Dead
Hale did buy them and put their name on it. Cannot find them though.
RayburnGuy
John Hale is doing business as Stanley Jigs and as far as I know they do not offer the craw worm anymore. I don't know why it's not made these days as the craw worm was one of their top sellers. It used to be THE craw worm around here for years and years. emptystringer81
Looking at them closer it does say "HALE" on the bottom side. Right where the A is there is a hole, so couldnt see it very good. So is that the brand of these? Intresting. My dad said that his go to color back with these was the black with red flake and chart. claws. Did anyone else have good luck with that color? Right where the A is there is a hole, so couldnt see it very good. So is that the brand of these? Intresting. My dad said that his go to color back with these was the black with red flake and chart. claws. Did anyone else have good luck with that color? Black with blue claws was a favorite on Rayburn and Toledo Bend. On Lake Livingston the water was much muddier than Rayburn and Toledo Bend and the black with chartreuse claws was big over there. Back in the day about all we fished on Livingston was the black/chartreuse craws and a couple different color spinnerbaits. Here's a little background on the Hale craw worm as I know it. John Hale came up with that craw working in his garage. After a while he sold it to Lonnie Stanley. (Stanley Jigs) Lonnie produced it for a number of years along with his jigs and spinnerbaits. Back then a lot of the tackle shops had the craws in bins or cardboard boxes and we bought them by the pound. John was a rep for Lonnie and was sponsored by Lonnie when John was fishing B.A.S.S. tourneys. From here I'm not sure what happened, but they quit making the Hale craw. Then I noticed that John was doing business as Stanley Jigs. Not sure if Lonnie wanted to retire or what, but you rarely see his name mentioned anymore. These days Stanley jigs, spinnerbaits, etc. are all sold through John Hale who as mentioned above is DBA Stanley Jigs. Still not sure why John isn't currently making the craw worm. RayburnGuy
Intresting write up rayburn, they should keep making them, since they was that good They definitely caught a lot of fish for a lot of years. Used them as trailers and Texas rigged as well. They're not as fancy as the craws these days, but they sure caught fish. Ben
