Ok What's Going On With Do-It Jig Molds?

Recommended Posts

I got two new molds from Barlow's in today the minnow head jme-7-a1 and the jrs-7-48. First thing I see is there is no post in the hook eye for the hook to set on. Both molds are like that. Seems to me the hook will flop around more and cause more  bad pours. The jrs-7-48 is a heavy hook 4 1/8 oz. and 3 1/4 oz. The label even says this. I open the mold and its got 4 1/4 oz. and 3 1/8 oz. What the heck! Anybody any new molds like this?

Slammingjack,

I know for a fact, that anytime you have a small Aberdeen hook like a 570, there will never be a pin in there to hold the hook eye in place. I don't have a pin in my mold (or any mold that has an Aberdeen hook) and I have over hundred molds, many with the Aberdeen style hook. There would be know way to put a pin in there that small to fit inside a hook eye for those style of hooks, your mold (jme-7-a1). Now on the other mold that one doesn't have one either, mine is the same as yours also. Actually they make the bored out hole in the mold to fit the outside of the hook diameter, and I have never had any problems with these molds with lead seeping in the hook eye and filling. So the way your mold cam in is the way it has been made for quite awhile.

Do-It Corp has a lot of typos in their information.  Thanks for posting up so I can at least fix the information on my web site.

I was on barlow's site looking for more stuff to buy. Checked on the jrs-7-48 mold and saw the note that about the 4 1/4 and 3 1/8 oz. Mr. jbarlow you are a stand up guy. I will give you all my business that I can. Thank you sir.
