Red Shad

Recommended Posts

I know what red shad looks like, but I need a formula.

That's where you'll run into many mixed opinions.  I never knew there were so many different varieties of red shad.  lol

Personally, I kept it simple.  Any brand of black, but use lots.  I mean you want it BLACK!  For the red, I used MF colorant.  Once again, use a bunch.  Very brilliant crimson color.

take a bottle of black, add it into your plastic. repeat and do the same with red (and red hilite if you ask me)

everyone has different color and everyone likes/has their own look of each color. if you dont want to come up with your own or take the take to figure out formulas, you wont have much fun at this hobby.

google soft plastic recipe cookbook. there are people who have exact recipes posted on there

On a per cup basis:

BACK

15-20 drops Black 103

BELLY

15-20 drops Cherry Red Dye 120

about 1/4 TSP Pearl White 127

Those are LureWorks colors. If you don't have them you'll have to improvise with what you do have. That will give you a traditional Red Shad but everyone likes to put their own spin on it. It's a starting point. Good luck.

good recipe.

Seems to me if ou add less black when making red shad baits the red will show better and maybe use red hi-lite
