MikePaintsBaits
What Colors Are You Mixing To Get The Rayburn Red ? Thanks Mike
BobP
Well, good question. Maybe Rayburn Guy can chime in. From what I've seen in various baits, Rayburn Red is actually more a burnt orange than a red color. I mix orange and brown Createx to get what I want. RayburnGuy
You guys sure know how to put the pressure on. lol It really depends on what your calling "Rayburn Red" Mike. There are a bunch of different variants these days. It's even getting confusing around here as to what a Rayburn Red 'trap looks like. If your wanting to duplicate the colors of what the old timers around here call Rayburn Red then look at the photo below. These days it's called "Red Shad" and even the colors of it have changed over the years. The gold strip along the shoulders looks to have a bit of a green tint to it these days when you look at it at online at some of the tackle sites. I can't give you a definitive color mix as I've never painted one. That's due to having bought so many of them in the past. I've got some that are probably 30 or 40 years old and haven't needed to paint any. If you'd like me to I can send you one of what us "old timers" call Rayburn Red. You would get a much better idea of the colors by holding one in your hand than you would looking at one on a computer screen since the colors and tints don't look exactly the same on any two computers. Now if your wanting to paint one of the many current versions I'm not sure I'd be the one to help you. It seems as if every company that produces a lipless crank these days has their own version of Rayburn Red. Let me know if you want me to send you one like in the picture below and I will be more than happy to do so. Ben p.s. I just looked at the picture I posted above and even though it's the correct bait it looks a lot different on my monitor than the one I'm holding in my hand. The red seems to have an orange tint to it in the picture like Bob said, but the one I'm holding in my hand doesn't.
