alsworms
Awhile back a member asked about better pricing for Lee Pots. A friend of mine sent me this link...... http://www.midwayusa.com/rewriteaproduct/637732 Other than Ebay, that's the best price I've found. You can check shipping on the site (same-day UPS ground). Shipping to my place was 9 bucks, which is about what Lure Craft charges for the pot before shipping. Hope someone can get some use out of this. Delw
Al the ones midway sells are for lead and the thermostat and element at the low setting is extreamly hot to hot for me. I burned lots of plastic with a lead one. I know a few guys that bought them cause they were cheap then went and bought different thermostats for them and they work ok, however they have more money into them now than if they would have boughten them direct from LC. Lee sells them direct but your going to pay about the same price as Lurecraft. Delw
alsworms
Well I knew there had to be a reason why they are so cheap. Good thing I'm not in the market for pots anymore. Otherwise, I'd a bought a couple.
Delw
Chris Last year I bought a big pot from lurecraft, the lables were mismarked when they got them and so I got a lead one. I put my pllastic in like always and went to the back yard to get the boat ready for the next day. I came back in about 20 mins to a burn smoking stinky smell. I only had it on number 3 or 4 if I remember correctly Lurecraft sent me a knew one immed. and asked me to put the other one back in the box and send it to them at my convience. alsworms
Thanks for the heads up Del. I completely agree. There's no way you can cook plastic in a lead pot. Tried it a few years ago, and it wasn't a pretty site.
Bassin Jack
Can I take it that all of you guys use Lee Production Pots? How do you like them? One last question can you pour right to the mold with at least minimal problems? Thanks
Delw
Jack I personally pour by hand, I dont like the pots, to me they are slow and not as accurate. Delw
BigZ
Bassin Jack, I only use the pots if I am doing a bunch of baits in one color without salt in the plastic. Even large glitter has givien me problems in the pots before with clogging. if you are pouring a worm with little detail (french fries, etc...), they are fine. The temperature is difficult to regulate due to the volume of plastic in the pot changing all the time. I have 4 pots and I never run more than 2 at a time. If you are using the pots, microwave the plastic first , color and glitter it next, then add it to a preheated pot, this will save you a lot of headaches. Stirring is also a continuos problem in the pots as the glitter likes to settle and this will mess with consistency in the baits. You are most likely better off running your plastic through the microwave and then placing it on a burner in pouring pots to keep it hot. Good Luck. Bassin Jack
Once again thanks for the help guys. I think I will just stick with the hand pouring. It seems to be going ok now that I figured it out.
