Muskie Tamer
I'm having problem with microballoons that i baught from alumilite. Im using pressure with my casts, about 40 psi. When i make a cast with the new microballoons im getting 25% shrinkage. I didnt have this problem with my old microballoons, there was a small amount of shrinkage but i could live with it. So my question is does anybody now what brand of micro balloons wont crush under pressure?
token12
Try contacting smooth-on and ask them about ure-fil 15. I'm not sure if they will crush under 40psi though.
jonister
I would try lowering your pressure and increasing time in the chamber. Do you pressurize and then take out or let them get hard in the chamber? If you lower the pressure and leave them in longer it might help. Muskie Tamer
I tried dropping the pressure down to 20 and leaving it in longer, it didn't help.i have contacted smooth-on cause that's also the resin that i use. They claim there's won't crush under pressure. I wanted to see what the TU crowd thought first before i waste anymore money on products that don't meet my needs. ravenlures
Just wondering why the pressure, is it the detail in the lure. I mix the amazing casting resin with micro balloons and have no problems. I just let it stay in the mold for 15 minutes.
Muskie Tamer
i use the pressure for both small bubbles and for some castings having detail.
ravenlures
Have you considered vibrating the mold as you pour. You can get them on ebay, I got mine from a old football game.
