tompowers535
Hi, I am very new at pouring my own baits - see how many posts I have made. I made some of my own POP molds as well as bought Essential molds and Enforcer molds. I have "stick type" worms, frogs, and ribbontails. I was looking to add another type of bait to my list. I appreciate any advise you may give me. I am located in MA if that helps at all.
DaBehr
I would suggest some type of creature bait. I really like the Do-it Baby Berry ...or Berry Bug if you like them a little larger. You can flip it, Texas rig it, use it as a slop bait or on a jig. Rig it straight up and down and use it as a swim bait!
FATFLATTIE
Brush hogs!!
ipt
I'm in NH so i'd expect we fish a lot of the same stuff. this is an easy question if you ask me. CRAW craws are by far my favorite bait, or anything similar like a beaver or brush hog.
tompowers535
Anyone have a recommendation for a good craw ? I was hoping Enforcer did. His molds are really good and he has great customer service.
mark poulson
The Essential 3" grub is a great mold. I fish the grub on a Texas rig, jig head, split shot, and use them almost exclusively as spinnerbait trailers.
rynesgto
If you want a craw, look no further than the 702 craw from BTS.
tompowers535
How about Bear's Baits 4" Real Craw Worm ? I like that you can pour the claws separately in a different color. Does anyone have experience with that one ?
Apdriver
How about Bear's Baits 4" Real Craw Worm ? I like that you can pour the claws separately in a different color. Does anyone have experience with that one ? I have tried "realistic craws" before and just didn't have the success with them as I have enjoyed with the 702. That said, it wasn't Bears real craw. There's something in the action of those flapping claws that the bass can't resist. With the real craws, you just don't get the action. Apdriver
You can also get a claw mold for the 702.
tompowers535
Thank you, that makes sense. Pretty doesn't always mean you are going to catch fish. You are not the first one to praise the 702.
rynesgto
The 702 craw was a true game changer for me. It isn't a rage craw or a paca craw, but it catches more fish than both for me. I feel it's an action the fish don't see. It's a nice median between the rage craw an a paca craw Edited April 30, 2016 by rynesgto
tompowers535
Thanks everyone for your advice. I just ordered it. Hopefully, it won't take a long time to come in.
Apdriver
Tom, you'll enjoy a lot of success with it. I like fishing it on a 1/4 ounce screw lock football head. Also use it as a trailer for silicone jigs. Texas rigged is another good way. I have two claw molds for it so if you need some claws to try, I'd be glad to help out. tompowers535
Thank you, Apdriver. I really couldn't spend the extra money on the claw mold also so I just made figured I would pour extra craws and cut the claws off and then repour. Big Ray
Has anyone used the 3 inch version of the 702 craw?
Hanapa'a
I use these craw for saltwater
Driftwood
I just ordered the tip mold for the 702. It is by far the best craw mold out there. It may take a while to get your order but it's worth the wait.
jonister
If you are still looking for a must have bait, by far the Senko is at the top of my list. When I can't even catch them on even a spinnerbait or jig I can trust a Senko for those finicky fish. I don't know who makes a good Senko mold though.
Saugerman
The 702 crawl, is my favorite mold I own, It shoots great, and boy does it produce fish.

tompowers535
Thanks, the Senko Essential molds do work good. I have two. I sealed them with high temperature paint. We also catch a lot of fish on Enforcers 6" Ring Curly Tail worm.
fishon-son
DO-IT MADD DAD 3 OR 4 INCH IS A MUST HAVE ,,BASS LOVE CRAWS AND THEY LOVE THIS BAIT....I LIKE THE 4 INCH BETTER
mark poulson
The Essential 3" curly tail grub makes an awesome spinnerbait trailer. It moves a ton of water, and is just the right length to have the tail begin right at the end of the spinnerbait hook, so you don't need a trailer hook. That let's you throw it up in some really gnarly stuff without hanging up, and it comes through grass well, too.
tompowers535
Thanks, I may get that mold when my wife isn't looking.
