BQ22
Sooooo I am just getting started with painting some cranks. I have ordered some blanks and am currently waiting for them to arrive. I picked up a badger krome and a couple colors of paint. My questions are as follows... 1) do you use all kinds of paint, as in opaque , pearl, irradecent and transparent? Do you find your self using one over the other? 2) where are some good places to get blank bodies? Thanks for any answers you can provide. RayburnGuy
I mostly use transparent and pearl paint along with a few metallic paints. Can't help you with a place to buy bodies since I "roll my own" out of wood. Ben
SW Lures
I use all of the paints that you mentioned. However very little opaque' s. Colors that I use the most?.... I guess that depends on what I'm making at the time. Decide what schemes that you will mainly being doing for awhile. I know by just starting out paints seems overwhelming. Sealers are the must I use, this not a "paint" tho persay. As far as blanks, you will get much advice about this. My opinion is deal with the ones that uses their product themselves. There are a couple of these people here. One that may not be here on TU is dakotalakestackle. I don't paint plastic blanks much anymore myself, I'm like Ben I make my own. Welcome tho to TU, Dale
AZ Fisher
If you look at the top of the Hardbaits main page there are two posts "Pinned." One is lure blank suppliers and the other is the hard bait cookbook, both have a ton of info and if you don't find what you're looking for try the search feature under hardbaits section. Watch vids on Youtube on airbrushing lures and you'll find some stuff about layering colors for effect. Welcome and have fun!!
Chuck Young
I use mostly pearls, irridescent, and transparent colors from createx and their wicked line. wicked detail sepia is indispensable. Fluorescent sunburst and yellow are also good for base coats or the bottom of many baits.
