They Are here!

Recommended Posts

Still waiting and getting antsy!

In the meanwhile if any of you guys would take the time to post or pm me your thoughts, good or bad and any suggestions on my lures I'd greatly appreciate it. As a new lure maker the idea's I have may or may not work. One of the ways to improve is constructive criticism. I can't think of any where the criticism would be more expert and therefore helpful than from here.

Still waiting in Canada,

Thanx Sieb,

Just the type of comment I'm looking for!

for my larger lures I always put them on "backwards". For two reasons.

I think the water resistance on the blade works more effectively when pulled and the fish most times is coming from underneath or behind to strike so the flash side should face them.

Is there a consensus on blade direction by the way? What's everyone experience?

Devery: I sent yours "air express" or whatever it's called so you should have your package anyday now. I was very impressed with your baits, have wanted to get my hands on some ever since you first came to TU. I think they are very inventive, imaginative, and although I have not had a chance to use them yet I would bet they are effective also.

For those that didn't participate in the swap: There will be an auction shortly for a package identicle to what we all got...be plenty of pics and descriptions, thanks guys, JIM

Absolutely fantastic ? how do you do the eyes? Can you do them like the 3D eyes?

Tried to go to your web site but couldn?t connect. Won?t be able to critique your baits fish catching ability either ? because they won?t touch the water.

Earthworm77

Do you powder paint your jigs? Great color combinations. Really like the rabbit hair jig (fuzzy bunny?).

JIM

Wow ? very nice (hooks too). What is the skirt material on the brown jig?

Mr.B

Still can?t get over that black and blue flip jig. Didn?t realize how many styles of owner hooks you were using.

Fat Ratz

All great ? great color combos ? olive green is tops.

Markell

The rattle man ? these things are going to slay on my next trip.

brian ranger619

I see what you were talking about. Are you making your own glitter mix? Great idea on the weed guard.

CJ

Finally got one of your footballs. Is that your own spoon mold?

Cavu

Yeah man ? we gotta do the saltwater swap.

Thanx again to all of you TU members ? especially to JIM for managing the swap. All of you produce some outstanding custom baits.

Hmmm, with this auction coming ? could double up ? hmmm??.

that spoon is just do-its mold. I wanted to coment on some things i really liked but the computer isnt doin so well and neither is the risk but i gotta say again, Thanks to all of you these are sweet! And cavu i love those jigs you send. they kill the bottomfish. Just substitute the weight on a droper for your jigs and hold on tight!

thanks again all.

Oh and Jim, what type of paper is the business card you send printed onm? i like that effect. looks like the stuff i used in drafting. How much more is it over reg cardstock?

thanks

Several jigs were sent in that had tied skirts. What type of knot are you using to finish the wrap with? Also, anybody want to give out the secret to making the skirt strands stick out in different angles? Please...!?! What impresses me the most about these baits is the fact that no two are alike. There is a wide varitety of head styles, hook styles, sizes, skirting materials, head finishes, and colors. It is very cool to see the different designs that each of us have. Thanks again to all that participated and I look forward to the next swap.

LedHed,

Thanx for the compliment.

The eyes on the lures are made just like the lure is. Rods of glass of different colors are shaped and melted onto a steel mandrel. The eyes are "painted" with molten glass. There wasn't much up on my website by the way but if it comes up for you now: http://www.yarber.ca

take a look at page 3. Those eyes are made by fusing the glass in a kiln, you cut the glass in layers and heat at a set temp. for a set amount of time. The hardest part of the process is cutting the glass that small and then trying to get the bits of tiny shards to stay flat upon one another.
