Celticav
Thanks for the compliment LedHead, I tried to make sure everyone got at least one of my hand-tied football jigs but I am not sure...since I was trying to mix it up there were lots with standard skirt collars too. I am not sure what jigs you ended up with but if the material is silicone then it is either nature's edge, kama, or other such silicone material...if the skirt has a stretchy elastic quality and the strands are made of thread then it is (my favorite material) lumaflex which we buy by the pound and dye ourselves. Markell: Use a few half hitches and you should be fine. I have an instructional computer program that has tons of tutorials and movies that is truly exceptional for the beginner fly-tyer. Let me know and I will loan it to you, it really helped me alot. I want to personally say "Thank you" to you guys that participated. This is one of my favorite things about this community, besides the sharing of information freely exchanged on this board. It is always my pleasure to host a swap and with this one being a jig swap it was something I could really sink my teeth into. I can't wait until the next one, JIM

Mr B
Hey Guys, FINALLY. I got my stuff yesterday(FRI). Very nice work guys. Markell I really dig on the camo looking color you used. is that the kamaflage stuff? To answer your question on hand tying. To tie off I use the tag end that is about 3" long to form a loop. I lay the loop across my wraps and do 2 more wraps over the loop. Then cut off my thread from the bobbin and put that end through the loop. Then pull the loop back under the wraps, no knot involved. I hope this makes sense. I also loved your moteled powder paint, cool. Jim, I like the glitter paint. I also like the high quality hooks. Cool rattles and very nice job on the weedless football, I like to use the Krystal Flash also. Siebler, cool little spoon. I like that. Those Barbarian hooks are nice. We throw alot of frog hair football up here too. Fatratz, very nice color combos. I like the mix of natures edge, scale patterns and krystal flash. Very nive job. DV, those are some bitchin glass lures. Like everyone else has said they are not going to touch the water. Even though I know they would work very well. Especially as a jiggong spoon. Very nice and very original. Micromunch, quality stuff. Nice hooks and color combos. I like the weedless standup. What mold is that? Cool little rabbit zonker. I like that one alot. Capt Mike, thanks for the heavy stuff. I live about 25-30 min from the Pacific Coast ( Bodega Bay). These will work grat on the Lings and other rock fish. Nice paint jobs also. The hoochie jig is a nice touch. Ledhead. VERY nice heads. Great paint jobs, nice hooks too. I dig on the micro jigs. I like to tie flies and jigs for Steelhead also. Thanks Ranger 619, what can I say. These are some great jigs. Great job on the 2-tone paint. Very nice hooks and color combos. The 2 froghair jigs will make good Smallie jigs. Your style seems alot like mine. Even though I sent some pretty beefy stuff, I like to do the finess stuff also. Where are you getting the burnt orange froghair? or do you dye it yourself. Guys this was a great swap. A BIG thanks to Jim for all his help. I am sorry I missed out on the spinnerbait swap. I would like to see another one soon. This is not meant to rip on anyone but to be constructive. Many of your jigs would look much better that they already do if you tried hand tying the skirts on. I know it takes a little longer but the resluts are worth it. It Gives the skirt a little more flair and keeps the rubber more evenly distributed around the jig. Also wont slide down on the hook-set. Just something to think about. I like to use kevlar thread. Very strong and thin so not much is needed, for nice thin wraps. Thanks again guys great job. Markell
Mr B, I understand your loop technique. Very similar to how I was taught to tie on rod guides with a loop made of mono fishing line. I will have to give that a try. I agree about the tying the skirts on. The only complaint that I have been getting is "the skirt tends to slide off the bait" as a temporary fix I started using wire which fixes the problem but also introduces others. Wraped skirts seem to be the best solution. Celticav, What is the name of the CD? I would prefer to buy it since I may not want to give it back Thanks again! DeVeryTY
Got my package in the mail today. Thanks to everyone and especially Jim for facilitating the swap! They're all terrific and much better than anything you can buy at the local Walmart or Canadian Tire. Strike that, to even mention lures you can buy at Walmart or Canadian Tire insults the quality of the lures you guys make. LedHed, Great color mixes, like them sparly effects. And going to have great fun making skirts for them. Also I'm going to try and fly fish those small Jigs in the plastic box, look for a pm about them soon. River Bandit, Wow, did you tie these skirts on? And where did you get those greens and especially that sparkly camo? I know it's probably a trade secret but would love to get my hands on some. Markell, I can't wait to try these on some Walleye or Salmon, the other set we swapped isn't for use so now I have a set I can fish. Sieb, Like the mix of colors, especially the Xmas one and your flounder jig goes in my collection. Randy, Terrific colors and materials. Mr. B, Great workmanship on the tied on skirts and that matte black paint is great, I'll pm you some pics on the skirts I tie onto the dartheads (if you're interested of course.) Cap'n Mike, I gotta get to BC sometime this year to fish these that orange Guppy with the tail has some big Chinook's name on it for sure. Pro paint job on the spoons. Micromunch, Great contrast in color selection and I can't wait to try the rabbit fur jig. And Jim, Like the action of the red material (I won't mention the name in case it's a secret) and that blue purple shorhaired one looks like a big trout fly (it goes into my collection). Thanks to you all, I know it was more than $10 of jig's sent by each of you! And I know I'll never buy another store bought jig again, well unless some of you guys are selling in stores. earthworm77
Thanks for the compliments guys. The hair jig is in fact a rabbit jig that Hair tying Guru Phil Schafer taught me how to tie when I visited him in Missouri two years ago. What a sweet little jig it is. The heads I use are always powder coated. I'm not sure of the Football head mold#, it is custom. Gamakatsu Blk nkl hooks are my standard. Thanks again, I enjoyed the swap and can't wait until we do it again. Nice photos by the way.
