Bass Dude
I have been using Do-it injector for Do-it molds. I have also used the injector with some enforcer molds I have gotten through Ebay. I recently bought Bear Bait 4 inch K-grub and a 3 inch skirt mold cavity. I was getting undesirable results with the molds using a Do-it injector and I was wondering what other people are using for an injector with their molds and is there a rule of thumb where you should be using the same injector made by the same mold manufacturer. I went ahead and bought a Bear Bait medium injector and a bear bait small nozzle since the 3 inch skirt mold looks like it needs a smaller nozzle. mark poulson
I use whatever injector fits the mold, regardless of who made which.
edgecrusher
Bobs right, the problems are likely more technique or mold related, are you holding pressure and/or topping the molds off as the plastic draws down? The only molds I find affected by injector types are tiny panfish types where I find smaller injectors allow more pressure to push into tiny appendices but you don't appear to be in that area.
Bass Dude
Yes. Pressure was holding and I topped off. I consistently get a grub that has full body and a partial tail. The only difference I noticed is the Do-it injector doesn't fit as well as it does in my other molds. So I bought the injector which Bear Baits sell to see if that will make any difference. If it doesn't, then I know it is probably a issue with the mold or possibly my technique with this particle mold. I have never experienced issues with my other molds. So I was curious if anyone had any problems with the Bear Bait molds. Anyway, thanks for the feedback everyone.
majic man
try easing up a bit on the clamp, knob whatever. Typically that is venting related when they don't fill out. Not always tho.
DaveMc1
Everyone except Jacobs Baits uses a 5/8" injection port, the injector shouldn't be an issue regardless of who made it. As long as the nozzle fits the mold (they should pretty much all work) it will be fine. I am not sure the small injector nozzle will fit the med injector, pretty sure they are a smaller diameter tube.
Basseducer
I have Bear's grub mold and his injector and I get perfect baits every time. I have used Bear's injector on other manufacturer's molds with good results.
Bass Dude
Thanks for the ideas. I like the suggestion of easing up on the pressure with knobs that hold the molds together. I am going to give that a shot. If that doesn't work, I am hoping the Bear Bait Injector will resolve the issue.
