Rookie Needs Help

Recommended Posts

I have just started injecting soft plastics and want to thank you all for the Information , advice , and fellowship that you provide. My question is....I am trying to inject the color PB&j, I want the creature that Im injecting to come out looking like the colors are mixed up. How do I obtain this method. I am using a single injector and didnt know if this was possible. I want to thank you all in advance for any help.

It's doable with some patience you would need a pyrex cup with the one color and the injector with the other and alternate but to do this right a twinjector with the cross bar removed and each injector pulsed will get the job done.

Thank you gone2long for the help

To get the look I did I poured the brown into the mold and immediately shot the purple. Takes a little getting used to on how much to pour in the mold. Overall it's not to hard to do.

Will only really work with single cavity and certain 2 cavity side injection molds.

The 2 cavity molds being aligned opposite each other on either side of the runner, not on the same side being above/below the other.  As for how much to pour into the cavity before injecting your second color this will require some trial and error but shouldn't be too terribly difficult.  Good luck and remember to post your results!

Thanks for your help fellas, I tried a little something today that I want to pass on.  I am shooting the Angling A.I bait that resembles the Biffle bug. It is a 2 cavity mold. I only have a large injector, so what I did was, I mixed up my peanutbutter color in one pyrex then I mixed up my jelly color in another pyrex cup. When I got them good and hot, I sucked out one color at a time , alternating the colors, and only taking small amounts. Then , I have my injector marked where I always place my bottom hand so when I feel the heat of the hot plastic, I know I have enough to shoot. The end result was pretty awesome for a ROOKie, There are 2 draw backs to this process. 1the baits are not consistent with every pour as far as color, and 2, the plastic that has to be trimmed of off the sprue is now a mixed color. Other than that , Im really excited about the outcome. I want to thank you all once again for your help and advice.

I hope you mean you feel the heat through your gloves

When you do something hundreds of times, you're bound to screw it up once.... I did it twice.. Spilled a cup of plastic once without gloves, and once with gloves..... It sure didn't hurt as much with the gloves on
