nedyarb
Should the line be tied to an o ring? Or to the line tie?
mark poulson
You will get better action if you use an O ring. Plus, moving the line attachment up a bit from the actual line tie will help the bait run truer.
Richard Prager
If you don't use a split ring, that blank will hunt a bit and then straighten out. Sweep the rod to the left and the blank goes right, then straightens out and visa versa.

I get big barrel rolls without a split ring. Do you pause it when you change direction?
Richard Prager
Richard, I can never find that magic retrieve, where it hunts without rolling. I get big barrel rolls without a split ring. Do you pause it when you change direction? It doesn't change direction or "S" like the original. Only runs off to the opposite side you sweep the rod and then straightens out again. Found out by accident testing in the back yard. Forgot to put a split ring on. Probably because of the way the bill is...don't really know. I'm all thumbs and have zero knowledge of making baits....I can only paint. Put it this way, my 2 favorite tools are vise grips and impact screw drivers!

SW Lures
I have found that for most baits using round rings help action or a rounded snap swivel. It allows the bait to move freely. However there are some baits that just gives a different action (maybe better) with a straight tie to the tow eye. Then there are some that just don't do well at all. Interesting discussion and fishing technique, Dale
nedyarb
Thanks for the replies, I normally use an oring. However, most pictures Ive seen the megabass has no oring. And others are saying not to use one. So I thought I would see what yall are doing.
