basscat28
Does anyone have any feedback or experience with baitmold.com? I know they're overseas and shipping wont be quick, but I just make baits for myself and a couple friends alone. So production molds and spending $150-$300+ on a single mold isn't what I want. His molds are pretty cheap and made from soap stone or some variation material like it and he claims it has the life and accuracy pour that an aluminum mold does. Darkman
I have seen those type of molds before on you tube, mostly European bait maker, the one I saw was English. But as far as this company goes, I've never heard of them but I did check their eBay store And the gave a 100% positive review, they are from the ukrain and accept pay pal They are more expensive on eBay if I remember right, so I would go direct. I saw the videos the had on their web site and the seem to need a bit of lubbing but that is no big deal I did like a few of there mold, the price range is up and down. Some are great price others Not so much, the shipping is almost a month Based on there eBay account I would give it a try, I might even join you in purchasing a mold or two I liked the Berkley high boss, I've been looking for a good priced 4"" hog type mold Let us know how it went if you decide to order, use pay pal in case they are not on up and up Easier if needed to get money back Good luck and let us know
Cami
Dear Basscat28, thank you very much for sharing this new Mold Producer: he is the European answer that we, European Soft Bait Makers, were waiting. Looking at the video the thin details of little soft baits are really accurate. Artificial Stone could be a sort of synthetic resin added with quartz powder as the polyester putty for marbles. Maybe the soft bait will be not shiny, but it doesn't matter for me. I'll surely will try some of their molds. Bye and thank you again. Boagy
Basscat28, I have 2 molds from Baitmold. One is a single cavity paddle tail and the other I had them custom make for me. Its a 4 cavity 2.5" grub similar to Zman grubs. The material they use is an artificial stone material similar to that used on many modern kitchen bench tops. I think these materials are acrylic based and dimensionally stable. The moulds are very accurate and well made. I don't use any release/lubricant and the soft plastics pull out easily. I don't get a shiny finish as I do with my aluminium injection mold. Its smooth and accurate but dull. This doesn't worry me. I haven't experimented with a lubricant ..... that may even result in a shiny appearance. Shipping is cheap, but slow. Mine took about a month. They are very helpful with any custom moulds you may wish....and quick to produce. Will definitely be purchasing from them in the future for any of my needs. Paid by PayPal. Saugerman
I have 4 of the Baitmolds.com molds. They are pretty good molds. If you lubricate them you will get a shinnier finish. I just brush them with worm oil.
Chuck Young
I saw a video done by Stimpy where he sprayed a mold with high gloss paint to get more shine.
