cflbasser
You want to use non-iodized salt... Search the forums and you should come up with several posts about this topic. Here are a few: http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=2151&highlight=salt http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=2230&highlight=salt http://www.tackleunderground.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=1977&highlight=salt
crittercraw
What is the reason for not using iodized salt?
Tm Customs
You can use regular salt from the store but.... the baits will tear very easily and the salt does not suspend well so you will not get a constant consistnacy. If you are looking to make senkos here is the recipie to get the like yamamotos. 1 cup plastic 1/2 cup salt 1/4 cup softener. If you dont use softener in them they will suck! All senkos I have seen from other guys that are too hard have very poor action, I suggest you try this mix it will serve you well. I suggest popcorn salt, make sure you dont get butter flavor I have done that twice
Will
Tm, I followed your advice from some time ago and went to Sam's Club and bought the popcorn salt and I didn't realize until I got home that it was the butter-flavored kind (I couldn't see any other kind at the store so I bought it), but if you want orange looking lures, this is the way to go. JD
Tm, I will try your formula for Senkos, but I have a question. Is your formula based on using Calhoun's plastic and softener? I have a gallon of LC softener and was wondering if you would modify your mix based on the strength of LC softener vs. Calhoun softener. Thanks JD
Tm Customs
JD, I have done both it is the same for both, if you would like the baits to have a bit more action try 1/3 cup of salt I like this one better but if you trying to match Yamamoto's 1/2 is the key. Delw
Table salt works fine. I find it best if you grind it down in a blender first. Ive had to use it in a pinch and it worked like all the rest. Delw
