pescabaits
For the first time i had isdues with my etex. On pu poured lures, with special groundpaint and standard airbrushpaint, i put on the etex. On the round lures no problems but on the more rectangle lures i had spots with almost no etex. Used my normale turningweel Can hot dry weater be the cause?
BobP
Sounds like either fish eyes caused by dirt/oil on the surface, or maybe the epoxy is just doing its natural "thing" and drawing away from any sharp edges. Epoxy doesn't like sharp edges. Even when they look like the're covered, it will usually be very thin and subject to quickly wearing off the bait during use.
benton B
Etex is too thin to cover sharp edges. You have to find a way to round those edges down or the etex will pull away from the edge. 1 thing you can try, let the etex set up for about 10-12 min (maybe longer) before you apply, might be thick enough to cover the edges without pulling away. Sharp edges and epoxy just don't mix very well.
Eyectcher
Hi there I'm no expert by any means but I was just thinking about your issue with Etex mabee try doing the sharp edges first then let them set for a bit then do the the whole bait over again hope this mabee could help
pescabaits
A second layer was ok. No troubles this time. I think it was due to the very hot weather
buzfly
I am going with the surface prep not wiped down evenly and you did not put a thick enough and even coat on the lure. Also, taking the hard edge off your lure will help it bond better and hold up better. I would not go with the weather as a source unless you are working in an are that has a huge swing in temp and humidity where you work. I work in the basement and its somewhat consistent in temp and humidity. You should store your epoxy in the are you work in or let it get acclimated for a few hours before you use it. Modern epoxy, like eText and Devcon will be affected buy extream changing conditions, but you would have to be on the extreme max/min of the working environment for them to blow up and not work. Put it to lessons learned and things don't always workout as planned. Brad
